Beauty in simplicity
Jellyfish are one of the most spectacular creatures in the ocean and even though they are one of the simplest. Their decentralised nerve net, which is used instead of a brain, creates a brilliant array of colours and patterns down the length of their gelatinous body. This image I captured was located in the Valencia L'Oceanografic Aquarium, which in itself is an outstanding piece of Architecture.
Ruby
“Ruby” was a project my father and I undertook starting in late 2011. We had bought a 1990 Alfa Romeo 75 in 2008 with the intention of restoring it for when I turned 16. Nevertheless, we both were too busy to start this project until the Christmas break of 2011. With time allowing, we managed to fully remove, rebuild, and rebirth the engine. This, in conjunction with replacing all the perished items for new ones and adding personal touches to the car (lowering and a performance exhaust system), we were finally left with a precision Italian work of art with our personal spin on elements.
Frank Gehry Guggenheim Musuem - Bilbao
Frank Gehry’s Guggenheim museum located in Bilbao boasts a seemingly random array of curved metallic exterior surfaces, though the architect states “the randomness of the curves are designed to catch the light". The deconstructivism style of the building integrates seamlessly into the urban context, unfolding its interconnecting shapes of stone, glass and titanium along the Nervión River in the old industrial heart of the city. While modest from street level, it is most impressive when viewed from the river.
